Two-Bedroom Farmhouse Fixer-Upper in Philmont

  |  August 29, 2025

How about a two-bedroom farmhouse fixer-upper in Philmont, not far from Hudson?

This c.1840 farmhouse has lots of original details that the new owner might want to retain. The exterior is traditional white, with the front door opening to a sunporch.

We envision this eventually becoming a four-season room, with the right windows and insulation.

The banister and newel post in the foyer are shapely and in pretty good condition. The carpeting is another story.

Modern, office-style fluorescent lighting is inset into the drop ceiling in the kitchen, which has a mish-mash of cabinetry. Bonus points, however, for the kitchen’s large size.

Wood paneling and a deep-red wall-to-wall carpeting lend a dark cast to the dining room.

The same kind of carpeting resurfaces in this bedroom, which needs quite a bit of work.

This bathroom is a good size, although just about everything in it needs to be redone.

This bedroom, too, needs renovation. It’s got good sunlight streaming in.

The listing describes just two bedrooms, so we’re unsure of the use of this space.

We love the old-fashioned doorknob in this bathroom…and even the wallpaper is something that the right old-home buff could get used to. The rest of the bathroom, however, could use updates.

An enclosed back porch has red wall-to-wall carpeting, too. The house is just over 1,400 square feet and is located about 15 minutes east of the city of Hudson. The list price is $215,000.
