Unique Historic Landmark in Hamden, $179,000
Kandy Harris | March 12, 2015Call it nit-picking, but we consider this c.1864 building in Delaware County more Edwardian than Victorian in design. Regardless, the styles are close enough that we’re throwing it in the mix this week. Why? Because we love it, that’s why. Formerly a general store, antique store, caterer, event space, auction house, and art gallery, The Auk on Hamden’s main drag is on the market at a reasonable price for a whole lotta space (7000 square feet!). The interior needs work, for sure, but oh the possibilities residing within this unusual building. We actually think it would be a cool space for a small local museum, but then again, we are HUGE fans of small local museums. Listing says that it includes an owner’s apartment, so live/work is also on the table. Located in the Catskills village of Hamden situated along the West Branch of the Delaware River.
