Unplug the Family and Take Them on a Catskills Ski Vacation, $175/weeknight
Kandy Harris | December 9, 2015It’s time to start getting serious about that family ski vacation you’ve been talking about for years. For accommodations, we’re suggesting you take a close look at this hip 1950s log cabin located in West Kill, Greene County. The location is perfect fit for winter sports enthusiasts, especially since it’s about 20-25 minutes to most of the big ski areas around here: Belleayre Mountain (20 mins), Hunter Mountain (20 mins), Windham Mountain (approx. 30 mins), and Plattekill Mountain (45 mins).
The cabin was recently renovated and feels like it’s been plucked straight from Sweden with its clean, refined interior. Includes 3 beds/1 bath (accommodates five guests), a romantic creekside locale, and a sprawling 30 acres’ worth of privacy. During the warmer months, guests can take advantage of the screened-in porch and outdoor fire pit. Rates are $175/night M-F, $200/night Sat & Sun.
Here’s the thing: There’s no cell service up in the part of the mountains, and the house doesn’t come with Wifi or a TV. Might want to keep that little tidbit from the kids lest they revolt at the idea. Don’t forget to act surprised. In fact, let’s practice what you’re going to say when you get there: “Ooops, we had no idea there’s no Wifi or cell service! Guess we’ll all have to talk to each other! Oh, look! I brought Scrabble.”
And scene.
