UPSTATE JANE: Event Tonight: Emerson Resort’s Spotlight on Song Series

  |  March 1, 2012

Anyone who has travelled on Route 28 between Kingston and Phoenicia has seen the Emerson Resort and Spa in Mt. Tremper. It stands out among the strip with it’s high-end look and its Catamount Restaurant with a large bobcat scaling the signage. There has been some controversy over another project that the developer of the Emerson is in the middle of which I will leave out of this discussion, but is worthy of another post.

What I want to focus on is the “Spotlight on Song” series that has been happening at Emerson in their Great Room. Terrific Hudson Valley and Upstate New York musicians have been gracing the stage and with a warm cozy atmosphere complete with a wood burning fireplace- it makes for an enticing night out. The Great Room has lounge seating and is adjacent to The Phoenix restaurant with a drink and tavern menu at reasonable prices if you wanted to grab a bite first.

Tonight (Thursday, March 1st) the line up is fantastic, with folk music legend Happy Traum as the headliner, along with guest Adrien Reju who I have had the great pleasure of listening to and highly recommend checking out with her partner Owen Biddle (former bassist for The Roots, and currently playing with Mr. Barrington) and Doug Yoel.

The show starts at 8pm and is $15.00 admission.
