Rosie 151, Filthy Gorgeous Burlesque

Sorry, friends. You’re going to have to leave your kids with the sitter for this event, but perhaps the idea of a little more mature entertainment might be tantalizing to you, since all of the kid-friendly fall and Halloween stuff is over. If that’s the case, come to the Two Boots Pizzeria in Red Hook (Dutchess County, not Brooklyn) for the Filthy Gorgeous Burlesque Show. The show was created by New York Burlesque Festival producer Jen Gapay and features vaudeville acts, magic, comedy, music, and, of course, scantily-clad Burlesque performers.

Two Boots is an interesting place in and of itself. Located just across 9G from Bard College, the decor is weird and eclectic with a decidedly Louisiana-bayou feel to it. Regardless of how the design rubs you, their food is delicious, and there are tons of options for meat-eaters, vegetarians, vegans, and those who eschew gluten. In fact, Two Boots might be the only Cajun/pizza joint around the Hudson Valley, so the funky atmosphere seems like the perfect venue for an edgy and fun Burlesque show.

There’s only one show on Friday, November 8th, so don’t wait around to get your tickets. They’re $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Doors open at 9pm; show starts at 10pm. You can get more information about the performance line-up on their Facebook event page, or, you can scramble on over to this recent article in Rural Intelligence to learn more. Oh, and in case you’re wondering: This is old-school Burlesque, not a strip show. The performers keep all of the naughty bits covered…but just barely. Those who are easily offended by bawdy humor and lots of flesh should probably go see a movie or something, instead.
