Upstater Destinations: Kingston Rock and Roll Flea Market
Kandy Harris | May 2, 2013Show of hands: Who likes flea markets? And who likes funky, vintage, quirky stuff? Now, who likes Rock and Roll? If you kept your hand up that whole time, then you’re probably going to want to check out the Rock and Roll Flea Market on Saturday, May 18th in Kingston’s Murphy Center (GMAP). Event promoter Chris Orlando hopes the first-ever event will “give people an alternative to ordinary shopping with an emphasis on local artists and businesses.” And there ain’t nothing wrong with that. Furthermore, the $3 admission charge will go toward the Kingston Police Athletic League Boxing program (you can learn more about that on the PAL website, and it sounds like a very cool program).
more after the jump…
The list of vendors is a fairly hefty one with over 75 on the current roster, although Orlando states they’ll take more vendors on a “first come, first served” basis. So if you’re looking to sell some Frankenstein bracelets or Zombie tees, you can contact Orlando at rocknrollfleamarket@gmail.com. Oh, and there will be a DJ playing music all day, which makes us wonder if an impromptu flea market dance party will break out. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed the DJ doesn’t play the Monster Mash.
Check out the Rock and Roll Flea Market website for a full list vendors and the wares they will be plying.
