It’s become a tradition around these parts when fall starts to roll around: Somewhere, people are slowly lurching down a Main Street dressed like zombies. This Saturday, it’s happening in the Ulster County town of Rosendale, starting promptly at 1:30pm with an undead parade. Once they’ve finished their unholy procession, everyone, dead and living alike, will gather at the Willow Kiln Park for an afternoon of live musical performances by Voodelic, Pitchfork Militia, and the female-fronted Misfits cover band called the Miss-Tits (the name alone should pique your curiosity). The whole zombie-fied fiasco ends with a 5:30pm showing of the blood-soaked feature “I Eat Your Skin” at Rosendale Theater.

Additionally, there will be a costume contest to see which zombies are the most vile and creative (prizes include free tickets to the Forest of Fear), and local zombie aficionado Captain Cruella Moxham will be on-hand to give those in attendance a perfectly ghastly zombie makeover. Although zombies aren’t generally known for the altruistic leanings, this festival of the risen dead is for a good cause: The suggested $5 donation goes directly to the Rosendale Food Pantry, and non-perishable canned food items are also acceptable donations to the cause.
