A Walk Among the Leaves
Upstater Staff | October 14, 2014Thanks to a recent article in the Poughkeepsie Journal about the 10 best secret autumn walks in the Hudson Valley, we now want to drop everything and go for a walk in the woods. Some of the secret walks (which aren’t so secret to us) include Montgomery Place in Annadale, Turkey Point in Saugerties, John Burroughs Nature Sanctuary in West Park, and Shaupeneak Ridge in Esopus. All excellent places to take a fall stroll, but we would like to take a moment and add to the list: Falling Water Preserve in Saugerties, High Falls Conservation Area in Philmont (Columbia County), and Dutchman’s Landing Park in Catskill. Make sure you set aside a couple of hours to take the full walking tour, which we suggest you begin at Dutchman’s Landing. We did it over the summer, and it was delightful, so we have every reason to believe it will breathtaking dressed in fall finery. Linger at the Beattie-Powers Place grounds for a stunning view of the Hudson River. Wanna see our pictures? Of course you do. Scroll down, and then let us know your favorite autumnal haunts in the comments below.
