Ever Wonder What a $4.2M Log Cabin Might Look Like?
Kandy Harris | February 28, 2018Consider that mystery solved with this Wallkill NY log cabin compound…
If you’ve dared to ask the question, “What would a log cabin in the woods look like if you had millions of dollars to throw at it,” you’re likely a true real estate junkie. So, call us true real estate junkies, because we’ve asked ourselves this question more than once.
Thankfully, this former Ulster County Girl Scout camp could answer the question for us…and we also want Girl Scout cookies now for some reason.
Turns out, it’s not so much the log cabin, itself, as its impressive setting. Adding more than one log home to the property tends to help, too, and this property’s got four of them.
For the past half-century, this 200-acre property has been tended by its current owners, but before that, those lucky Scouts got to enjoy some serious views from its mountain-top perch, as well as a 120-foot waterfall. Now, the property needs a new owner to bask in the its glow and go for a swim in the fresh-water swimming pool.
The four homes on the property include a vintage main cabin and three newer log homes. Furthermore, the listing states that the three newer homes are in “very good condition.” Here are a few interior photos:
A property like this needs an owner who wants to use it as a family compound, camp, resort, or spa. Otherwise, $4.2M for a property, even one set against as magnificent a backdrop as this one, is a bit steep for most of us.
As for the setting…
Quite unsurprisingly, this is located on some of the most beautiful land in the Hudson Valley and Catskills. It’s nestled along the southern portion of the 2,500-acre Awosting Preserve, which is adjacent to Minnewaska State Forest. These pristine, protected lands provide access to natural beauty, and this huge compound sits in the midst of it all.
