This Week on Upstater: Not Quite the Capital District

It’s time to head north this week, Upstaters, to see what’s happening near the Capital District. But not quite. We’re keeping our search of the residential real estate listings south of the Albany County line…unless we find a really, really good one, of course.

To pinpoint the area we’re referring to, think:

West of Hudson: North of Greene County, east of Otesgo County.

East of Hudson: North of Columbia County into Rensselaer County.

Roughly ‘Not Quite the Capital District’ with MA border to prespective. Hudson, Columbia County is in red on the bottom. Albany is at the top middle.

Why so far north? For starters, residential real estate prices are still reasonable, while buyers might feel priced out more south. Follow this link to this house on five acres in Schodack Landing, Rensselaer County, listed for $324,900. Or this one. Or this one. Secondly, property taxes are low. And, finally, this area is closer than you think, thanks to the presence of the I-87 Thruway taking you to NYC, and I-90 taking you east to Massachusetts. You know else is in Massachusetts? Shoreline. Consider it an alternative to driving 3 hours to the Long Island beaches. The area is starting to look more appealing every second.

So, stay tuned as we feature residential real estate listings in Not Quite the Capital District all this week on Upstater!
