Wild Saturday at John Burroughs’ Woodchuck Lodge in Roxbury
Woodchuck Lodge in Roxbury, home of naturalist writer John Burroughs, is hosting a nature walk this Saturday, June 6 at 1 pm with journalist and former herbalist Violet Snow. Snow, who wrote a nature column for the Phoenicia Times and Olive Press for nine years and continues to write for the Woodstock Times, will lead a “Slow-Down Nature Walk” in the vicinity of Burroughs’ homestead on Memorial Road. While not exactly a hike or a plant identification class, this event is presented as a chance to examine nature and discuss what is observed. For more information, visit www.woodchucklodge.org.

Clara and Robert Schumann Lecture and Piano Demonstration
Catskill Mountain Foundation in Hunter presents the Clara and Robert Schumann Lecture and Piano Demonstration Saturday, June 6 at 2:30 pm at the Piano Museum at the Doctorow Center for the Arts. Dr. Jeffrey Langford, musicologist, and Dr. Joanne Polk, pianist, will talk about the lives and music of German composers Clara and Robert Schumann, and will demonstrate Romantic compositions on a 19th century Broadwood piano, similar to what the Schumanns might have performed on. While less known than her husband Robert Schumann, Clara was among the first women pianists to perform in public – her career spanned over six decades. Exquisite Corpse Contributed by Ellie Ohiso

An “exquisite corpse,” by Ellie Ohiso

Catskill Art Society / Exquisite Corpse of the Catskills
Catskill Art Society in Livingston Manor is hosting Exquisite Corpse of the Catskills, an art show curated by Ellie and Akira Ohiso, the creators of concepts such as Green Door Magazine, Narrowsburg Not Williamsburg, and Hickster. Ellie Ohiso explains that “The Exquisite Corpse of the Catskills is an experimental exhibition by collaborating thirty local artists over thirty days, without seeing each other’s work. The results are sure to be like the Catskills’ art community itself: both interwoven and dissonant at the same time. When the Surrealists invented the game Exquisite Corpse, they were attempting to match dream and reality.” The Exquisite Corpse opens this Saturday, June 6 with a reception at 4 pm in the Elevator Gallery. For more information, visit catskillartsociety.org.
