This week on Upstater, we’ve been bending Santa’s frosty ear about some residential real estate we’d love to see in our stockings on Christmas morning.
Since we’ve been especially good this year, we’ve decided to include one additional item to our Wish List: This creative cottage rental on the Shawangunk Ridge, just for one weekend.
Why this place? Because the Shawangunk Ridge (or, as they are affectionately referred to around these parts, the ‘Gunks) are full of outdoorsy recreational opportunities. Even if it’s too cold and snowy for hiking (is that even a thing?), then a quick drive east will put you in New Paltz village where there are plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops.
But we weren’t exactly looking to leave the confines of this cottage, which rents for $95/night. If we were staying at this place, we would stock up on groceries, light a fire in the handcrafted stone fireplace, grab a blanket, and hope for a blizzard. Art lovers will appreciate the decor.
According to the airbnb.com listing, you’ll have the place entirely to yourself, but the hosts can be contacted in case of emergencies.
Here’s what some guests had to say about the Dream Art Studio in Kerhonkson NY:
“The perfect combination of off the beaten path and close to restaurants, hiking, and quaint little towns.” Bennett, 2007.
“The gas fireplace (controlled by thermostat) kept the studio nice and cozy the entire time.” Kimberly, 2017.
“Loved EVERYTHING about the interior of this lovely home…” Sarah, 2017.
