Arts Mid-Hudson got a nice little shout-out from the New York Times this week, exploring executive director Linda Marston-Reid’s interest in Hudson Valley arts culture as well as AMH’s up-and-coming happenings. Marston-Reid moved to Poughkeepsie from Brooklyn in 2011 and immediately went to work uncovering the art scene next door. “It’s much more undercover here,” she said in the article. “There are world-famous artists happily working in big lofts right here in Poughkeepsie.” Still need to do some last-minute holiday shopping? Check out Dutchess Handmade, AMH’s pop-up store open now until December 24, M-F 9:30-5:30 and Sat. 12-5pm. The store is located in the AMH storefront at 696 Dutchess Turnpike, Poughkeepsie and features a variety of arts, crafts, jewelry, textiles, ceramics, etc. Other good stuff on AMH’s horizon include Kakizome: Japanese Traditional First Writing on Jan. 3, and Dia de Los Tres Reyes over three celebrations on Jan. 5 in Beacon and Jan. 10 in Fishkill and Poughkeepsie. Arts Mid-Hudson also awards grants throughout the year. More information on those here. The deadline has already passed for this year, but keep checking back for updates.
