Plattekill Mountain in Roxbury will host “Music on the Mountain” Saturday, September 5th from 3 to 6 pm. The Talking Machine rock’n roll band will perform live music, barbecue with corn on the cob will be served, and a brand new magic carpet will be inaugurated. Chairlift rides will provide a spectacular view of the mountains this time of year when leaves begin to turn colors. Also in Roxbury, the historic Kirkside Park will host a series of events Sunday, September 6th, from 1 to 9 pm. At 1pm, Roxbury Nine and Fleischmanns’ Mountain Athletic Club will kick off the festivities with a vintage baseball game. The Woodshed Prophets, a rock band based in Sidney, NY, will perform live music beginning at 6 pm. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display at 8:30 pm. West Kortright Centre’s Labor Day Fair
West Kortright Centre in East Meredith is hosting its traditional Labor Day Fair Sunday, September 6th, from noon to 6 pm. Several bands, including Blues Maneuver and Horseshoe Lounge Playboys, will be there to perform live music. In addition, there will be food, crafts, and fun activities for children. The 34th Annual Iroquois Festival
The Iroquois Indian Museum in Howes Cave is hosting its 34th Annual Iroquois Festival Saturday and Sunday, September 5 – 6, from 10 am to 5 pm. The festival features Iroquois music, dance, storytelling, arts and crafts. Storyteller Kay Olan is one of the highlights this year. For more information, visit iroquoismuseum.org.
Happy Traum Performance
The Maverick Concert Hall in West Hurley is hosting a concert this Saturday, September 5th at 8 pm featuring guitarist Happy Traum. Traum will be joined by John Sebastian (harmonica, guitars, and vocals), Cindy Cashdollar (slide and steel guitars), and Zach Djanikian (guitar and vocals). Joan Synder’s Art Show
Elena Zang Gallery in Woodstock is hosting an opening reception Saturday, September 5th at 2 pm, featuring the works of Joan Snyder. A painter and printmaker, Snyder has received numerous awards and recognitions, including a MacArthur Fellowship and a Guggenheim Fellowship. Her works are included in many collections such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, Guggenheim, and Whitney Museum of American Art.
