But New Yorkers don’t like having to explain to everyone that they don’t live anywhere near Manhattan. Of course, we’re referring to New York Staters here, not necessarily city-dwellers, and real estate website Movoto.com named these and a few others in a list called 21 Things You Need to Know About New York Before You Move Here. The Saugerties Garlic Festival gets a shout-out at number 3, and you can’t have a list about New York without include the ubiquitous Stewart’s Shops. The Headless Horsemen in Ulster Park also gets a nod at the number 6 spot. So does the Rhinebeck Sinterklass parade and Bethel Woods. One glaring omission: High taxes. But we suppose that’s not as much to talk about as football, breweries, and the Adirondacks. What else did they leave off?
