For a small Sullivan County village nestled away in the Catskill Mountains with a population of less than 400, Jeffersonville has a lot more going on than we had anticipated. Affectionately referred to as simply “Jeff”, the village has a Main Street (Route 52/East Main) with a number of specialty shops, cafes, and other assorted businesses, not to mention Jeff’s seemingly thriving cadre of  inns and B&Bs. It’s also not lacking in the picturesque aspects of Catskill small town living, from white-steepled churches perched on hills to the Mill Pond and Lake Jefferson providing a peaceful backdrop to the goings-on.

Location-wise, Jeff is in a good spot: It’s close to Callicoon, another great small town, the Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center, the Delaware River, and one of our favorite lovely places, the Stone Arch Bridge Historical Park. Interesting little tidbit of info: Jeffersonville was featured on the TLC show Town Haul back in 2004, during which a crew comes in and renovates, revamps, and generally spruces up a number of buildings around town. In Jeff’s case, lots of Main Street storefronts got some work, and a small village park was added during the show’s taping. If you look on the village website, there’s a nifty write-up about the whole experience.

We found over two dozen homes on the market in Jeffersonville, including farmsteads, mountain retreats with views, cabins, old Victorians, and a tantalizingly array of five-figure properties. Most of the good stuff is in the affordable $100s, but the $200s look pretty nice, too.

Jeffersonville is located approximately 22 miles from Monticello, 12 miles from Liberty, and 2 hours, 3 minutes from NYC.
