Crocker Tavern in Delancey on the Market: $350,000
Kandy Harris | July 8, 2014Look at this great old building in Delancey, Delaware County. It used to be a tavern located along Andes-Delancey Road, formerly referred to as Esopus Turnpike, and while it’s on a postage stamp of a plot, it abuts state land so it’s essentially surrounded by meadows. Listing says it was built c.1790, but we found an interesting little tidbit of history about this place and its role in the first murder trial in Delaware County in 1814, the victims of which are buried a few hundred feet north of the tavern marked with an inscribed field stone. It puts the tavern’s construction 1806. The photos are intriguing enough and virtual tour on YouTube tells a more complete story about the interior. Delhi lies about 15 minutes north of here.
