Brewster Victorian near Metro-North, $359,000
Upstater Staff | October 1, 2014So, we’re thinking this might be a possibility for someone who works in the city, doesn’t want to commute far, but wants something affordable on a nice residential street up north. If affordability is first and foremost, and you’re looking in Putnam County, you’ll be most likely to find it in Brewster. The small city is a stop on the Metro-North and is located just north of the Westchester county line. And this is a pretty fabulous Victorian inside and out. Tin ceilings, bay windows, French doors, wood floors, and over 2500 square feet of space. Yard is a decent size, and it includes a detached garage/carriage house. Just keep in mind, this is still Putnam County, and in spite of the somewhat reasonable price, the taxes are high.
