Organic Through Francesco Mastalia’s Eyes
Upstater Staff | October 8, 2014Gift giving season approacheth. What do you get for the foodie/photography enthusiast in your life? How about photographer Francesco Mastalia‘s soon-to-be-released book “Organic: Farmers and Chefs of the Hudson Valley.” Mastalia takes a gritty, realistic B&W look at the chefs and farmers who drive the Hudson Valley farm-to-table food movement. The book is set to drop, as the kids like to say, during the first week in November (you can pre-order from Amazon). Subjects include Zakary Pellacio from Fish & Game in Hudson, Dan Leader from Bread Alone, Dan Barber of Blue Hill at Stone Barns, and Amy Hepworth of Hepworth Farms. If you like Dorothea Lange/Daguerreotype photography, you’re going to dig Mastalia’s portraits in “Organic,” some of which are included here on Mastalia’s site.
