Fisher Center at Bard College is hosting The Marcel Proust Project Sunday, January 24 at 12 pm. The production, conceived and directed by Sarah Rothenberg, is inspired by the life and writings of Marcel Proust, and includes performances by tenor Nicholas Phan, violinist Boson Mo, and Sarah Rothenberg on piano. Ruby Silvious’s Tea & Alchemy Project at Greene County Council on the Arts’ Gallery
Greene County Council on the Arts (GCCA) is hosting Tea & Alchemy, a project by award-winning artist Ruby Silvious, opening reception Saturday, January 23 at 5 pm. The project features mixed-media paintings on recycled tea-bags. Silvious posted daily pictures of her project on various social media accounts over the span of one year, and gained numerous followers and requests for media interviews. Creative Nonfiction Reading at the Pine Hill Community Center
Writers in the Mountains is hosting a Creative Nonfiction Reading at the Pine Hill Community Center, Sunday, January 24 at 1 pm. Readers include poet Sharon Israel and writers Judy Bloom, Thea Anema, and Evelyn Ellsworth, all participants in Anique Taylor’s Creative Nonfiction workshop. A fast growing genre, creative nonfiction, defined by Lee Gutkind as “true stories well told,” includes personal essay, memoir, biography, autobiography, narrative nonfiction, and cultural criticism.
