Oh yes, you can spend all four seasons basking in the woodsy goodness that is this Ulster County retro cabin.

Just because you long to wile away your days off in a little cabin in the Catskill Mountains doesn’t mean you have to give up the comforts of a real home. That’s been our theme this week here at Upstater: Fancy cabins with creature comforts. And, while this two-bedroom cabin in the woods of Shandaken, NY is certainly understated, spending time here hardly qualifies as “roughing it.”

Swap out a too-small tent for a living room with cathedral ceilings and wood floors, and, instead of a campfire, snuggle up in front of the pellet stove.

No need to whittle pointy stick for hot dogs when you can cook up anything you want in this eat-in kitchen…

…and, why bother with sleeping bags when there are two perfectly good bedrooms? Each of these comes with closets and storage space.

Going days without bathing while camping is a thing of the past. We think this updated bath with soaking tub and separate shower is a much better option…

…and, when you feel nostalgic for the days of more rustic outdoor excursions, decamp to the screened-in back porch and experience the best of both worlds.

Situated on nearly an acre of land just east of the charming hamlet of Chichester on the Stony Clove Creek. Head west on Route 214 and you’ll find yourself in Phoenicia, NY and its cafes, shops, arts, and performance spaces. Let’s face it: even when you’re “roughing it,” it’s still nice to visit civilization once and a while.
