A Tale of Love, Loss, and Delicious Food
Mary Looram | October 7, 2015Half Moon Theatre is teaming up with the Culinary Institute of America to present I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti this month, from the 9th to the 25th. The show stars Denise Summerford, co-director of Half Moon’s School of the Arts/Broadway actress/HV resident, as she narrates “comic tales of love and loss while cooking a three-course Italian meal from scratch.” As if the meal isn’t impressive enough (homemade spaghetti? Dang), Denise delivers the show, adapted from Giulia Melucci’s best-selling memoir, all by herself up on stage. The CIA provides their state-of-the-art demo kitchen and the venue, while Half Moon and Denise provide the food and the laughs. Says Denise, “I want the audience to feel like we are buddies just hanging out, cooking, eating, and sharing life stories tutto insieme.”
I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti will be at the CIA’s Marriott Pavilion Fridays and Saturdays at 8, as well as Sundays at 2, from October 9th to 25th. Performance only tickets are 35 or 45, but, if you’d rather not torture yourself, spring for the onstage dining tickets at either 75 or 90 bucks. Dinner and a show, at the same time!
