Car-Free Upstate: Cooperstown Victorian, $279,000
Kandy Harris | March 26, 2014You’ll hear no complaints from us about this turn-of-the-century Victorian in Cooperstown. It’s walking distance to some great stuff in town, including Main Street shops and restaurants, Lake Front Park (less than 10 minutes on foot), and the Baseball Hall of Fame. A Trailways bus stops about 2 minutes from here, making it a respectable candidate for leaving the car parked elsewhere. The price is also of note: Size-wise and level of general curb appeal makes this house one of the better deals in this neighborhood. Sure, there are a few other houses not far away priced lower than 17 Susquehanna Avenue, but this one’s nicer. Subjectively speaking, of course. The good stuff: High ceilings, French doors, dark wood floors, 2,000+ square feet, exposed brick in the dining room, and nice woodwork. Cooperstown is in Otsego County, 3.5 hours north of NYC.
