And by “musical theatre nerd”, we’re referring to ourselves, especially when Stephen Sondheim is involved. So it’s no wonder we’re excited about a few of the offerings happening in the HV over the weekend. First off, the Half Moon Theatre in Poughkeepsie will be performing Side by Side by Sondheim, a musical revue that’s an equivalent to a Greatest Hits album, with selections from A Little Night Music, Company, Follies, and Anyone Can Whistle. SbSbS premieres Friday, March 21st at the Half Moon (GMAP) through April 5. Tickets are $30 and $27 for seniors and students.

But wait! There’s more! On Saturday, March 22, Broadway star Judy Kaye, best known for her work in productions of Grease, Phantom of the Opera, Nice Work If You Can Get It, and Ragtime, will be performing with duo Lenny and Steve at Helsinki Hudson. And yeah. The show includes some Sondheim. Reserved seats are $50 and bar seating is $30. We hear the food at Helsinki is tasty, too.

Okay, okay. Enough with the song and dance. If the theatrical arts aren’t really your bag, there’s plenty of other stuff going on this weekend. Find out what by signing up for Chronogram’s 8-Day Week newsletter, a cultural to-do list in your inbox every Thursday.

And scene.
