Did Someone Say Cupcakes?

Every year, the Gardiner Cupcake Festival passes us by, and we’re left thinking, “Damn. Why didn’t we go to the Cupcake Festival?” No good reason, especially since CUPCAKES. Yes, they’re just smaller versions of regular cakes, but while it’s completely socially acceptable to shove a cupcake into one’s gullet in one swift bite, doing the same with a giant layer cake might not be as socially acceptable (we prefer to wait until we’re alone, possibly in the bathtub, for such confectionery shenanigans). So go for a run, do extra yoga, double up on the burpees, hike Overlook all the way to the top of the fire tower, whatever you have to do on Friday, because this Saturday, the cupcake feasting begins. And you’ll have over 30,000 to choose from. Or, you can just wait until Saturday morning and run the 5k Cupcake Classic. Registration begins at 9am at Wight’s Farm and Orchard (GMAP). The rest of the festival runs from noon until 6pm, also at Wight’s. We suggest pants with an elastic waistband. Need more info? Check out the Gardiner Cupcake Festival website.
