Chronogram 8-Day Week: Into the Woods
Kandy Harris | January 30, 2014Have you ever wondered what happened to your favorite fairy tale characters after “happily ever after”? That’s a question that composer Stephen Sondheim endeavors to answer in his 1986 musical Into the Woods. The original Broadway cast was powerful, starring stage legends Bernadette Peters and Joanna Gleason. Since we wore out our original cast recording cassette tape back when we were in high school, we’re psyched that the Center for Performing Arts in Rhinebeck has brought it to their stage with a director and a cadre of performers we’ve known for years. We highly recommend this show. There’s oodles of talent afoot, and wait until you see the stunning set, which is designed around the idea of Sondheim’s desk as he writes the show. CenterSTAGE Production’s Into the Woods runs through February 9th, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sunday matinees at 3pm. Tickets are $26/$24, and they’re selling out performances. Call (845) 876-3080 for reservations. GMAP.
