From CNN Travel: Get in on the Catskill Mountains’ “Big Vacation Revival”
Kandy Harris | July 20, 2017Not Fake News: CNN.com gives a nod to the Catskills’ “big vacation revival” and offers tips on where to stay and eat while you’re visiting.
For those of us who have lived here for a while, the “revival” has been a slow process unfolding over the course of two decades, back when people still scratched their heads when you mentioned places like Bovina Center and Phoenicia, and the Orpheum movie theater in Saugerties village was an…ahem…adult destination. In a way, the Catskills have come a beautiful full-circle from how they started: A place where families could find solace in the fresh mountain air and water, far from the hectic lifestyle of the city.
These days, however, the accommodations have evolved from rustic bungalow colonies (although those still exist) to modern inns offering farm-to-table menus and fancified cocktails. CNN suggests visitors stay at some boutique hotels and inns like the Deer Mountain Inn in Tannserville, The Graham & Co. in Phoenicia, and Woodstock Way in Woodstock village.
