cold in july

Remember that time you saw Dexter Morgan wandering around uptown Kingston and you thought you’d imagined it? Well, you didn’t imagine it. And you didn’t imagine seeing Don Johnson and Sam Shepherd, either. They, along with Michael C. Hall, were filming Jim Mickle’s Cold in July around Kingston, Esopus, and Woodstock last year, and the Rosendale Theatre will be screening the movie on Monday, July 21 and Thursday, July 24 at 7:15pm, and on Wednesday, July 23 at 1pm. It will also be at Upstate Films in Woodstock on July 26 at 2pm. The plot follows a family man (Hall) who shoots an intruder in his home. The victim’s father, played by Shepherd, seeks revenge for his son’s slaying. The movie is based a novel by Joe R. Landsdale, and you should watch the trailer. It feels dark and brooding, with a hint of Peckinpah (look for our new fragrance with the same name coming soon) and perhaps a streak of Coen Bros. Color us intrigued. More about the movie plus the screening schedule on the Hudson Valley Progammers Group website.
