Delaware County Discoveries, Part I

The view from 167 Hunter Road, Roxbury
If you’re exploring the Catskills but you haven’t given yourself the opportunity to get up into Delaware County, you’re missing out on some beauty. The county lies west of the Greene County, north of Sullivan, and borders Pennsylvania. We’ve spent a bit of time in Delaware, particularly in some of our favorite places like Roxbury, Delhi, and Margaretville, the latter of which lies just on the Ulster/Delaware border, but it’s been too long since we’ve checked it on the housing stock. So, what will you find in Delaware County? First and foremost, you’ll find a lot of bang for your buck. As we all know by now, the further north and west you go away from NYC, the cheaper things get, and, in general, the lower the taxes become. Back in the day, Ulster and Sullivan used to be the place to look for the good cheapies, and while that still applies to some towns in Sullivan and Ulster, they are both officially on the map, which means prices are starting to creep up. But less so in Delaware County. For now. Meanwhile, let’s enjoy the goods while we can. And, since we found so many goods in Delaware County, we’re going to spend two weeks there. Lucky you!
