Combining children’s activities and cooking demos with a subject like Lyme Disease might be a tough sell, but if ever an informational event on the disease could be considered fun, it would probably be Light on Lyme at the Rosendale Rec Center on Saturday, May 4th starting at 10:30am. The event, which is sponsored by the non-profit nature education organization Wild Earth, was created to help create awareness around the mysterious disease that has affected 95,000 New York residents since 1986, according to the NYS Department of Health. Proceeds go toward LDA’s LymeAid 4 Kids Grant and Wild Earth’s Financial Aid Fund. The program is chock full of speakers, including a host of doctors and experts in the subject as well as Congressman Chris Gibson. Music, kids’ activities, and food provided by Little Apple Press of Woodstock, Karma Road of New Paltz, and the Village Tea Room also of New Paltz. Want to know more? Check out the event website for more information on speakers, presenters, and schedule. Tickets are $15 for one person or $25 for two. Under 18 get in free. The Rosendale Rec Center is located at 1055 Route 32, Rosendale (GMAP).
