Destinations: Puppetry at the Hudson Opera House

After a winter of Netflix binge-watching and serious cabin fever, we’ve been hankering for something out-of-the-ordinary. This puppet theater production by Danish puppeteer Sofia Krog and Spanish puppeteer David Faraco might be just the thing to wake up our hibernating brains. “The House” is a story about a family who runs a funeral home (Six Feet Under with puppets?), and the house in which they reside acts as a main character in and of itself, narrating the action as it unfolds. But before you go thinking that puppets are just a kid thing, this production aims to please both children and adults alike. Intrigued yet? We certainly are, even more so after watching the trailer on Youtube. We get the sense that the humor is black (our favorite kind) but with plenty of tongue-in-cheek mixed in for good measure. “The House” premieres this Saturday, March 1st, 7pm at the Hudson Opera House in Hudson and continues its short run through Sunday, March 2nd at 4pm. Tickets are $15 for members and $18 for everyone else. Buy them here, but leave the really little ones at home; this production is appropriate for 12 years and older.
