Eye-Candy of the Day: GLUCK+ Tower House, Ulster County
Kandy Harris | March 24, 2014We were reminded of this slice of treetop heaven just recently when we found this link in our inbox. Not only is this Peter Gluck-designed vacation home in Olivebridge one of the most stunning residences in the Hudson Valley, it’s also (arguably, of course; it’s all subjective) one of the coolest houses in the world. Consisting of three floors inside of a glass tower tied together with a sunny yellow staircase, the Gluck house (which Peter Gluck designed for his son and business partner Thomas Gluck) ascends beyond the treetops. The house’s common living spaces are perched on the top floor so that, 1) the forest floor suffers minimal disturbance from the footprint, and 2) the place where everyone congregates is the best seat in the house, with vistas spanning the Catskill Mountains the likes of which are tough to achieve without a hillside perch. Each floor has a private bed/bath suite. Watch the video describing Tower House and its construction on the GLUCK+ website. Nothing like a little real estate eye-candy to make Mondays a tad more tolerable, no? More photos after the jump.
