Goodbye, NYC. Hello…?

goodbye-to-all-that

That’s funny. Someone collected an anthology of essays about loving and/or leaving New York, and they didn’t include prose from any of our stunning authors, who think of nothing other than this very topic. Well, we forgive them, especially because the name of the anthology, Goodbye to All That, comes from one of our favorite pieces of writing, by Joan Didion. The book takes as its epitaph a snippet of her beautiful words: “All I mean is that I was very young in New York, and that at some point the golden rhythm was broken, and I am not that young anymore.”

You guys relate, or is that golden rhythm still humming along? And, if not, where are you going instead?
