Hannacroix Cabin, $266,800
Kandy Harris | May 2, 2014This is one of the fancier log cabins we looked at this week. Well, that’s not entirely true. We looked over hundreds of cabins this week to compile our favorites, and lots of them called themselves “rustic log cabins” priced very high, but, in fact, they were manufactured homes bereft of any character or distinguishing aspects to separate them from other manufactured homes, other than being constructed of logs. That’s not our thing. This week, we looked for cabins that felt like the real deal, unique properties that seemed to beg occupants to leave the bustle behind, light a fire in the wood stove, and take a load off for a while. And while this log house near the hamlet of Hannacroix in northeast Greene County isn’t one of those cash-only, no septic/water/electric places out in the boonies, it feels like a cabin. Other things we like: An additional barn, artist studio, front and back decks, fire pic, and a 10 acre lot size. Closest civilization: Greenville is 5.6 miles away, Ravena nearly 10 miles away, and Coxsackie 11 miles away.
