Hudson Valley Unemployment Numbers
Kandy Harris | August 11, 2014As we posted earlier, Putnam County has the lowest unemployment numbers in the Hudson Valley area, according to an article posted on Philipstown.info. The New York Department of Labor crunched the numbers for June 2014 which put Putnam’s unemployment at 4.6%, the fourth lowest in the entire state. But how did the rest of the counties do? Here’s the breakdown, lowest unemployment to highest:
1) Putnam – 4.6%
2) Rockland – 4.9%
3) Westchester – 5.1%
4) Dutchess – 5.3%
5) Orange – 5.8%
6) Ulster – 6.1%
7) Sullivan – 6.6%
Ouch, Ulster and Sullivan. But things are looking up, statewide. The number of jobs in NYS has increased by 137,000 since June 2013.
