Hudson Writer’s Room on the Horizon?

Writer’s Room in DC

We had originally gone over to visit the Rogovoy Report in order to read Seth Rogovoy’s touching and heart-wrenching tribute to writer/spoken word artist Maggie Estep, who passed away at the age of 50 on February 12. In fact, we were so moved that we had to read more of Rogovoy’s blog as kind of a palate cleanser (not in the bad sense, but in that “someone’s cutting onions in here so we need to look at something else for a while” kind of way), which is when we saw his post about the possibility of a Writer’s Room in Hudson. The people behind the Writer’s Room in DC are testing the waters for one in Hudson, sending out queries and scouring for any interest from the writing community. A Writer’s Room is essentially a quiet yet communal place for writers to do their thing. The room consists of a number of work-stations as well as storage, printing, coffee (essential!), and the chance to meet and rub elbows with other writers.

The Writer’s Room in DC offers memberships starting at $130/month, and that includes a semi-private workspace, free storage, WiFi, and printing. We assume the Hudson room would be similar. If you’re a writer or just someone who thinks this is a swell idea, check out Rogovoy’s blog post, where he’s included the list of questions that the Writer’s Room people would like answered. Pass it along to anyone you think would be interested, too. If you submit answers and there’s seems to be a genuine interest in this project, you’ll get a week’s free membership. Check out the Writer’s Room DC website for photos and user reviews.
