Gardiner, NY: Home of Cupcakes and Famous Spruce Trees

Perhaps a dubious honor, given that the receiver of said honor has to be sawed through the middle, but an honor, nonetheless, was bestowed upon a single tree in Gardiner earlier this week. The 78-foot Norway Spruce was plucked from oh so many contenders in the Ulster County town just outside New Paltz to star as Rockefeller Center’s famous holiday centerpiece, which is set to be lit this year on December 2. The tree was lifted via crane onto a truck and sent through Gardiner in a well-attended processional, where the tree then continued on its way south to 30 Rock and destiny. You can read more about the tree and watch a video on Poughkeepsiejournal.com.

Please leave all “If a Tree Falls in Gardiner, etc., etc.,” jokes and puns in the comments section below.
