The Rail Trail Cafe on the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail

We here in Upstater Land love our rail trails. One of our favorite pleasant weather activities is taking the bikes out on one of the many we have around the Hudson Valley, where we know we will be safe from traffic. Rail trails are the perfect place to take the kids for a bike ride, go for a jog among the trees, or take a stroll with someone you love. And now, thanks to the existence of the Rail Trail Cafe along the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail, you don’t even have to pack a picnic lunch (take a gander at this article about the cafe on the Chronogram website). We often fantasized about living just a little closer to the trails so we could have easier access to them, so this week, we will be exploring towns and villages along two of our favorites Ulster County rail trails, Wallkill Valley, a 22.2 mile trails passing through Shawangunk, Gardiner, New Paltz, Rosendale, and Kingston, as well as the Hurley/Marbletown O&W trail, which starts in Hurley and continues through Cottekill and ends in High Falls. If you haven’t yet experienced a rail trail, what are you waiting for? Load up the bikes and get moving!
