Maybe You Don’t Have to Cook on Christmas Day…

Last chance to bail out on cooking! Starting to sound tempting, doesn’t it? Here’s the thing, though: There aren’t a lot of places in the Upstater area open on Christmas Day, unless you’re cool with bar food (which is perfectly acceptable). But there are a few possibilities if you want to try to sneak in a break from kitchen duty:

La Canard Enchaine, Kingston: This uptown Kingston favorite offer French-inspired cuisine in an intimate setting, and they might still be taking reservations for Christmas Day dinner. 845-339-2003. 276 Fair Street, Kingston (GMAP).

Tavern at Diamond Mills, Saugerties: Early day brunch more your speed? The Tavern at the Diamond Mills hotel in the village of Saugerties will be serving a holiday-inspired a la carte menu 10:30am-5pm. Reservations encouraged. 845-247-0700. 25 South Partition Street, Saugerties (GMAP).

Henry’s at the Farm, Milton: The farm-to-table favorite located at beautiful Buttermilk Falls Inn has a mouth-watering Christmas Day dinner menu. Dinner is served from 5-9pm. Call 845-795-1500 for reservations (if they’re still available). 220 North Road, Milton (GMAP).

Cucina, Woodstock: Enjoy a $49 prix-fixe brunch on Christmas Day at this popular contemporary Italian restaurant situated right as you enter the village of Woodstock. 845-679-9800. 109 Mill Hill Road, Woodstock (GMAP).

Note: We can’t promise all of the above restaurants are still taking reservations. Nor is this, by any means, a complete list. If you know a place serving brunch or dinner on Christmas Day, please tell us about it.

Happy Holidays to all, and to all, a good night!
