Ms. Havisham’s House in Beacon, $355,000

Because Superstorm Sandy knocked us all out of whack, we’re going to do some random posting of interesting properties this week, rather than focus on a single town — we’ll be doing some Columbia County reconnaissance over the weekend and will get town-focused again after.

In the meantime, here’s one we liked when we did Beacon week: a grand Victorian that has a lot of nice stuff to work with, but needs a facelift.

It’s on a city lot of .37 acres, with four beds, two baths and over 4,000 square feet. Taxes are less than $8,500, which, while nothing to sneeze at, is not the worst we’ve seen, especially in Dutchess County. Some beautiful details here, and we love the porch and the barn, even if they look like they could use some shoring up. The views include “city lights” and “water.”
