NY Mag Loves Sullivan County
Kandy Harris | May 19, 2014New York Magazine just released its 2014 Summer Guide, and our beloved Sullivan County made the list of things to do and places to go. We’re not surprised. We’ve all known for quite some time about the hidden gems of the former Catskill Mountain Borscht Belt vacation paradise: Cute towns, lots of places to play outside, good music, good food, all just a couple of hours from NYC. NYM focuses specifically on Narrowsburg, Callicoon (thanks, Mark Ruffalo!), Livingston Manor, Barryville, and Roscoe with descriptions of the housing stock and when to visit. So what is the housing stock like in Sullivan County these days? Well, you’ve got your village homes on small parcels, old fashioned farmhouses on some acreage, cabins in the woods, seasonal cottages near lakes, high-end estates, and (as we know but not mentioned in the article), bargain properties in the five-figure range. In short, a little bit of everything. We would’ve loved to see some other places acknowledged, like Bethel, Jeffersonville, Liberty, and Mountaindale, but there’s always next year.
