Sprawling Ranch on Over an Acre in Wallkill, $589K

  |  August 3, 2022

The best kind of ranch homes are those that have permission to sprawl all over the place. And today’s 3,022-square-foot home, in the hamlet of Wallkill, is no exception.

Three bedrooms and two baths fill this c.2001 home. All of the rooms give you plenty of space to spread out.

The entry—with a mix of wood and tile flooring—opens into a large living room that has a beamed ceiling and a woodstove tucked into one corner.

A formal dining room has a wood floor, a Palladian window, and (not shown) a row of cabinetry with a built-in beverage cooler.

The kitchen has ceramic tile, granite-look counters over honey-toned cabinets, a butcher-block island, and a walk-in pantry.

At one end of the kitchen is this nice dining area, with a cove ceiling and French doors out to the back deck.

A laundry room is off that dining area, and it, too, has lots of cabinets and those same counters.

The primary bedroom is a retreat, with a tray ceiling, floor-to-ceiling windows that make the dark laminate flooring gleam, and room for gym equipment.

It’s also got this dream of a dressing room that has built-in storage and lots of hanging space.

A cedar accent wall is a great touch in this ensuite bathroom, which is otherwise shaded in moody tones of gray/blue.

It’s got a deep tub, single-sink vanity, pier cabinet, and this walk-in shower.

The secondary bedroom also has dark laminate flooring and big windows, and it’s big enough for two twin beds.

The third bedroom is being used as an office. It has a Palladian window and the same kind of flooring as the other bedrooms, and it’s more than big enough for a futon and desk.

The hall bath has a tiled tub/shower, double-sink vanity, and the same light ceramic floor tile as the other bathroom and the kitchen.

The back deck echoes the half-hexagonal shape of the kitchen’s dining area. A wooden path leads to a pergola-covered fire pit. There’s still lots of room for creativity on the 1.2-acre lot that’s on a  cul-de-sac that’s quiet but still close enough to highways for an easy commute.
