Spring Street Farmhouse in Need of Refinement, $75,000
Kandy Harris | February 4, 2016Can you picture this 1880s Ellenville farmhouse with a new, stylish makeover? We can. Looks like a mix of actual wood and laminate flooring, at least on the first floor, but the kitchen looks pristine with lots of storage space. Living room/formal dining room/kitchen/bath on the first floor, three bedrooms and an additional bath on the second, plus a third of an acre just off N. Main Street in the village.
Real talk: One part of the house faces Route 209/N. Main Street and a used car lot, plus a few other houses and squat, featureless buildings. On the other side of the house, however, is this, from Google Streetview:
Not too shabby. Flooding, apparently, isn’t a concern in spite of its proximity to the Beer Kill (yes, that’s really what it’s called). Finally, the property is at the very end of a dead end street, so there’s a feeling of separateness from Ellenville’s main drag. For the price, we’re seeing a lot of potential here.
