The Peonies Are Back!
Kandy Harris | June 2, 2014Everything feels late this year. It’s June already, and we still haven’t been swimming yet (way too cold for our delicate systems) even though our first dip was before Memorial Day weekend last year. And it seemed like we all stared at bare trees for much longer than usual. Even the peonies have been a little pokey, but they’ve returned with triumph at Locust Grove in Poughkeepsie. Take tour of their splendor FOR FREE this Thursday, June 5th, 6:30-7:30. The tour will be led by Tim Steinhoff, Locust Grove’s Director of Horticulture , horticulturalist Susan MacAvery, who will talk all about the cultivation and care of these beautiful blooms. Did we mention it’s free? Locust Grove is a delight. If you haven’t been, this is a great excuse to visit. You must register before going, which you can do here on the Hudson Valley Garden Association website. GMAP.
