International Sculpture Day in Saugerties

Saugerties celebrates International Sculpture Day with a month-long series of indoor and outdoor exhibitions by sculptors who either live or work in Saugerties. Several venues will be hosting previews and opening receptions Friday, April 7 from 5 to 8 pm. Participating galleries include Cross Contemporary Art Gallery, Emerge Gallery & Art Space, and 11 Jane, a popup gallery, soon to turn event space. There will be maps with various participating outdoor venues. Established in 2015, International Sculpture Day takes place every year on April 24. Jazz Concert at Spencertown Academy

Spencertown Academy Arts Center is hosting a jazz concert this Saturday, April 8 at 7:30 pm featuring Rob Fisch’s Intentional Jazz Ensemble. The program is a tribute to Miles Davis’ 1959 recording Kind of Blue. For tickets and more information, see their calendar here.

“A Painter’s Paradise”: Cole and His Transformative Experience in Florence at the Thomas Cole National Historic Site

Thomas Cole National Historic Site in Catskill is hosting “A Painter’s Paradise”: Cole and His Transformative Experience in Florence Sunday,  April 9 at 2 pm. Scholar John F. McGuigan will explore the time landscape painter Thomas Cole spent in Florence in 1831-32, when he worked under the tutelage of Giuseppe Bezzuoli and Pietro Benvenuti, and produced some of his finest oils.
