Catskill Art Society in Livingston Manor is hosting two art shows Into the Storm, featuring the works of Daniel Angeli in the Fortescue Gallery, and Candy Spilner Paintings in the East Gallery. An artist talk will take place Saturday, January 30 at 2 pm, followed by opening reception at 3 pm. Angeli, who works in scrap-wood, metal and debris, explores chaos, disaster and tragedy, drawing on his grandfather’s experiences in WWII. Spilner uses vibrant colors in her work aiming to elicit an emotional, poetic response from her viewers. For more information, visit catskillartsociety.org.
Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild’s Annual Member Show UNUM SUMUS
Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild is hosting its annual member show UNUM SUMUS, Saturday, January 30 at 8 pm at the Kleinert / James Center for the Arts. Over fifty artists are featured in this year’s show, including painters Karen Riedener and Judy Stanger. Beacon Film Festival Youth Filmmaking Workshop
Beacon Independent Film Festival is hosting Filmmaking 101, a youth workshop, Saturday, January 30 from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm at Howland Public Library in Beacon. The class, tailored to ages 10 – 15, will cover the basics of cinematography from concept design and screenwriting to editing, production and post-production.
