Want to take in the colors? No need to plan for a final destination. Just get in the car and start driving, perhaps following the five routes suggested by Times-Herald Record recently. They cover a lot of ground in both the Hudson Valley and Catskills, including Route 218 past Fort Montgomery into Cornwall-on-Hudson in Orange County, the route between Liberty and Long Eddy that will take you from southern Sullivan County west through Jeffersonville and Callicoon, the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway (AKA Route 97, a 55-mile stretch of gorgeous driving) from Long Eddy to Port Jervis, and, of course, Route 44/55 through Minnewaska State Park and the ‘Gunks. Got a favorite fall drive in the Hudson Valley and Catskills? We do: Platte Clove Road up the mountain into Hunter. It’s a seasonal road, but it’s open until November, which means plenty of time left to experience the views for yourself. Tell us about your favorite fall drive in the comments!
