Trolley Museum Season Starts May 10
Kandy Harris | May 6, 2014Yesterday, we suggested getting Mom a Walkway Over the Hudson membership so she can attend Bob Berman’s presentation on Saturday May 11. Here’s another option for those who want to show their mothers a good time but don’t feel much like paying to fight for a meal at a crowded Mother’s Day buffet. This weekend is the opening weekend for the Kingston Trolley Museum, located on East Strand on the Rondout Creek. Admission for adults is $6, $4 for seniors. Kids 5 and under are free. The museum is on the original site of the Ulster and Delaware Rail yards and features 8 trolley cars, displays, and a museum shop. When you’re finished there, pop next door to the Hudson River Maritime Museum, which is also open on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and kids 5-18, and kids 4 and under are free. If you’ve never been to the Maritime museum, make time. It’s a real Kingston treat. Oh, and if you still need to eat, we recommend the Armadillo Bar and Grill on Abeel Street, where Mom can enjoy a complimentary margarita along with a Southwestern entree.
