Unemployment Numbers Drop in HV/Catskills

unemployment capture

Here’s a little bit of a late Christmas present for job-seekers: According to the Mid-Hudson News, unemployment numbers are continuing their downward slide into the new year, and that includes most counties in the HV/Catskills region, with the exception of Delaware County, which we’ve always considered part of the Catskills. Greene County shows particular promise with a nearly 2% decline in unemployment. Go, Greene County!

“It is good news for the entire region, especially the job seekers,” said Labor department analyst John Nelson. “With these numbers, there is reason to be optimistic.” Indeed, during the most recent election, the refrain we heard over and over again from the candidates’ lips was that economic development is top priority.
