The fall/Halloween fun continues in the Catskills up in Delaware County. The leaves are still gorgeous golden and burnt umber, so there’ still some time to take it all in before the leaves drop and the snow starts flying (and the temperatures can’t be beat right now). We’re still looking for fun things to do up here during the Halloween season, erring on the side of family-friendly (although there are definitely plenty of haunted houses and haunted hay rides that will no doubt scar you for life, if you’re into that kind of thing), and we thought a trip to Maple Shade Farm in Delhi might be just the thing.

Maple Shade styles itself as “your family farm for fun in the Catskills”, and it certainly looks like a safe bet. After all, how can you go wrong with pumpkin picking, corn mazes, all manner of farm animals (including fainting goats!), and, we hope, some apple cider donuts? On Saturday, October 26th, Maple Shade will be holding a Jack-o-Lantern Jamboree, which will, of course, involve a whole lot of pumpkin carving, arts/crafts, kids’ activities, crop art, and food. It all starts at 10am and runs until 4pm. According to the Farm website, “the highlight of the Jamboree will be a giant display of Jack-O-Lanterns all lit at the same time in an attempt to break a local record that we set to beat each year.” Participants can join in the fun by bringing their own pumpkin to carve.

Admission is $5 for adults and $1 “a foot” for kids. We’re not sure what that means, but you should go and find out for us. Maple Shade also holds a holiday event, and they host weddings and special gatherings in their big yellow barn. Check out the wedding page and photo gallery for more details on that.

Maple Shade Farm is located in Delhi, Delaware County, off of Highway 18. Here’s your GMAP.
